30 Day Minimalist Challenge Wrap-Up

Image
IT'S ABOUT TIME... We are about two weeks past due for this, I do apologize for the delayed post. But here is my input and feelings regarding the 30 Day Minimalist Challenge. I started on October 1st and finished on October 31st, an extra day didn't hurt but definitely added to the challenge. To begin with I designated a spot where I would pile things up, a simple task but had a great benefit. It made things easier as I had a place to "report" to with the items I was getting rid of along the way. I feel like without the designated spot the items would have gotten lost and possibly placed back to where they were before, especially with my husband's help, tehehe. So I picked a spot in my living, a spot I would see throughout the day, everyday! On the 1st of the month it was easy to get rid of one thing and then two on the 2nd of the month and so on. But I must be honest, I got busy a few of the days or just forgot on other days but I was sure to add extra ...

Minimalist Challenge ACCEPTED!!

Do YOU have more THINGS then you have room for those THINGS? That is a "brain twister", I know but just think about it for a moment. I am sure many of you, like ME, look at the space which you  live in and wonder where to put things but never quite find the space. We have things which we have not used or even touched since we bought them months ago. Like a book from Oprah's book list, the latest fashion trend items which are not even our taste, and/or the shiny kitchen gadget we ordered from QVC late one night, we all have our individual weaknesses and we can't judge. But too many of us get roped into the idea that we need to have things to measure our happiness, wealth, and our lives all together. The reality is, THINGS are just that...THINGS, which we do not need and don't have the room for anyways. The past year or two I have become very interested in the "tiny" living movement which is picking up speed across the country and across the wo...

Taking Steps in the Right...Healthy Direction

Getting Healthy Vitamins In the past few months I have been reminded and advised of the importance of taking care of my body. Diet and exercise are important but also taking the proper vitamins/supplements which aid in giving your body the nutrition it does not get from food alone. For example, my Dr just informed me of a vitamin D deficiency. I let it lay by the way-side until I decided to do some research. For those of you who don't know, a vitamin D deficiency can come from a lack of contact with the sun, those who do not consume milk or those who follow a strict vegan diet. Low blood levels of the vitamin have been associated with the following: Increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease Cognitive impairment in older adults Severe asthma in children Cancer Also, research suggests that vitamin D could play a role in the prevention and treatment of a number of different conditions, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, ...

YUMMY IN MY TUMMY: Restaurant Review

Hello All: To be honest I try to stay away from publicly "shaming" a local place of business but this is one experience which I needed to share with YOU. Just to be nice, I will leave out the name of the restaurant. I know I said "restaurant review" which is not any good without the name of the place but I suppose this will be more of restaurant experience share. Now PLEASE read this with the understanding that I have worked in a restaurant before and I understand the challenge of having twenty things to do, hoards of hungry people demanding your attention, and only having two hands to carry and two feet to move about the place. Wait, that sounds like PARENTHOOD?? Hahaha. So Here's My Story... Last Friday, my husband and I walked into a place which we have frequented before, LOVED their food, and enjoyed the beautiful ambiance. We waited about five minutes for the hostess to come to the front and seat us. The waitress came immediately over asking ...

Food Experiment

Image
Hello Everyone! Welcome to my 1st food experiment post, the 1st of many more to come. And I do not call it an "experiment" in the sense that I am mixing ingredients to create a new recipe. Instead I will be trying recipes I find through online sources, local fare favorites, and ones received from family and friends. I will be trying a recipe for the first time and testing its success with my husband, family and friends.  To be honest, I have always enjoyed food but never spent much time in the kitchen, creating on my own. I do enjoy going out with my husband to the newest restaurant in town, our favorite place in town but trying a new recipe, and/ or trying one of my family/ friends specialties. At the start of my marriage I decided to spend more time in the kitchen, learning new things. My husband is often impressed by what I can throw together with just a few random finds in the fridge. But I wanted to cook some great dishes which I could use for years to come or...

Hello All, (Yes this is me, Mrs. Dellagranda) I am Mrs. Dellagranda and I would like to welcome you to my blog. A blog written by a newly married woman, an experienced photographer, a hopeful writer, a somewhat foodie, an adventurist, a critic of many things, a beginning traveler, and an individual looking for answers to the simple questions. I have written blogs off and on for the past 10 years, most of it was just for my family and friends, so that they could keep in touch with my adventures while I lived away from home. Well this blog will be a bit different, there still might be some adventure written here or there. But this blog will mostly share my life experience and all that might occur. The topics and subject matter could be any of the following: politics, food, music, fashion, children, product review, sharing of experiences as a married woman, life on the East coast, photography, and so much more. I want to also hear from you, the reader, and what you want to kno...
