YUMMY IN MY TUMMY: Restaurant Review

Hello All:

To be honest I try to stay away from publicly "shaming" a local place of business but this is one experience which I needed to share with YOU. Just to be nice, I will leave out the name of the restaurant. I know I said "restaurant review" which is not any good without the name of the place but I suppose this will be more of restaurant experience share. Now PLEASE read this with the understanding that I have worked in a restaurant before and I understand the challenge of having twenty things to do, hoards of hungry people demanding your attention, and only having two hands to carry and two feet to move about the place. Wait, that sounds like PARENTHOOD?? Hahaha.

So Here's My Story...

Last Friday, my husband and I walked into a place which we have frequented before, LOVED their food, and enjoyed the beautiful ambiance. We waited about five minutes for the hostess to come to the front and seat us. The waitress came immediately over asking if we would like a beverage which we responded by saying water. Let's just say, this was the only FAST part of our almost two hour experience at the restaurant. She returned with the water, at this time we placed our order for  two specialty drinks along with an appetizer to share and two entrees. Now let me add this was NOT lunchtime so there was no "lunch-rush" as it was almost 2:30pm. We anticipated a quicker service but nothing unreasonable. The specialty drinks took longer than they should have but nothing to complain about as we had our water to hydrate ourselves. The appetizer arrived soon after the delivery of our specialty drinks. At this point things were running smoothly but at a casual pace. Now when it came to our main course that is when things started to go DOWN HILL. Again there were not a lot of people present in the restaurant, maybe 8 tables out of 25 with 4 waitresses, 3 kitchen hands, 2 busboys, and the manager. Between placing our order and receiving our appetizer it was about 20 minutes. Then an additional 30 minutes before we were handed our main courses. Michael was given his salad and I was given my veggie burger with fries. The server asked if we needed anything, Michael was fine but I asked for ketchup and mayo. We began eating and as we expected, the food was DELICIOUS! Another 15 minutes went by before our main waitress came by and asked how things were going. I responded by saying the food was good but I would like some ketchup and mayo for my fries. She said she would bring it RIGHT over...I waited another 40 minutes for ketchup and mayo which would accompany my COLD fries. Yes, 55 minutes for KETCHUP and MAYO! Let's not forget I had asked when our food was first brought to us, then when the waitress came by about 15 minutes later. After waiting about another 30 minutes Michael got up and asked TWO waitresses which one of them was our waitress. Following this I waited another 10 minutes as I watched the two waitresses went two different directions doing other things. I then got up, went to our waitress, asked AGAIN for the ketchup and mayo for my cold fries, and the manager. The waitress was unapologetic and practically annoyed that we kept asking. The manager came over with an order of fresh fries which we no longer wanted as we had been sitting at this place for WAY too long and needed get back to work. I expressed my frustration waiting SO LONG for two simple things which should have been brought with our food in the first place. We also expressed that the wait time has not changed in a year, as we reflected on our previous experience. The manager apologized and stated that they had changed quite a bit.
Long story long, we did not have a good experience and even with the good food will not be going there again.

What about you? What bad restaurant experiences have you had and how did you go about handling it? Do you go there again and risk the SAME bad experience because you know the food is GOOD?

Please share your experience.

Come & Experience Life with Me,
Mrs. Dellagranda
