April Book Review
"Faithful"
By: Alice Hoffman

This novel is about a young woman, Shelby Richmond, dealing with some of life's hardest challenges. From family issues, friendship drama, loveless relationships, and so much more. The heart of the story takes place on Long Island while other parts play-out in Manhattan. I found the first chapter a bit depressing, I didn't even want to continue reading. But once I got over that "hump" I couldn't put it down, in fact I finished the book in ONE day. Interesting enough, I found that I could relate to parts of the storyline. As I am sure most readers could finds pieces they could see themselves going through in their own life. I was impressed with the imagery which the author included throughout the novel. The imagery was able to paint a picture in my mind which allowed the scene to play out. The author made me laugh, cry, get frustrated, and celebrate along with the characters of the book. In the end, there was a happy ending which made you happy for the main character, Shelby Richmond.

This book gets my stamp of approval.
